A graduate of the acclaimed Edinburgh College of Art, Artist and Fashion Designer, Iona Crawford established her eponymous brand in 2007. Inspired by the Scottish countryside. Iona combines her passions for fine art and design to create her 'timeless yet directional aesthetic.'
Since the launch of her brand, Iona has enjoyed success internationally, showing her fashion and interiors collections in Paris, Tokyo, London, Beijing and New York. Her presence in the USA is going from strength to strength with 8 showrooms across America now representing her amazing work and we are thrilled that she will be joining the Interior Design Collective as a Trade Partner.
Iona's collection of wallcoverings, fabrics, furnishings and sheers are all derived from her original artwork. Each of her unique paintings display a harmonious balance between her vibrant use of print and their pairing with rich and tonal fabrics.
This week we were delighted to be invited to view Iona's latest collection of designs.

FABRICS & FURNISHINGS
"Collections designed to celebrate and embrace the diversity between contemporary and heritage aesthetics."
Farquhar Feathers fabric
Iona's studio works closely with artisan mills allowing the fabrics to be printed upon a variety of fabric qualities. Scale, colour and positioning of artwork can be altered for the purposes of a specific brief when needed.
These are available across a wide range of substrates, from traditional papers to smooth, coated and fibrous non wovens so the scope is broad. Offered in different weights, textures and appearances, both bespoke and standard collection prints can be scaled and re-coloured to a bespoke specification.
The Craquelure print, featured above, is one of my particular favourites. Inspired by aged, rustic farmhouses and barns, this dramatic print features a dark colour palette which is intensified with an intricate and distinct pattern. The contrasting dark browns and blues are suggestive of a natural ageing process, and weather-beaten wooden doors, metal locks and brass handles.
All the vinyl wallcoverings are manufactured in the UK using traditional techniques, combined with cutting-edge new technology. Because they are produced in accordance with contract specification standards, these wallcoverings are perfect for hospitality, education, healthcare, cultural and residential purposes. Thanks to state-of-the-art facilities, these prints are able to be reproduced onto an array of wallcoverings or window films, including metallics and textures. The UV inks used in the printing process means they are durable and wipeable and do not require a protective coating. All vinyls are also fire rated. Each design is custom printed and can be supplied in drops to fit a specific wall.
Working with Scotland's only remaining lace mill, Iona designs and weaves a variety of house collection and custom created laces. Drawing from a comprehensive bank of yarns, from cotton and cotton chenille to wool, lambswool, linen and silk, Iona produces the most beautiful selection of Scottish Madras fabrics.
These can be created across an array of styles and printed on the inner surface, outer surface or both to make a stunning feature piece for a new room design.
Iona's cushions instantly add colour and life to any interior. The collection of luxury velvet and cotton cushions incorporate bright prints and colourful palettes to add wonderful character to your home.
